BiG-B re-entry into idoit Box

An industry source says, "Apparently, Amitabh Bachchan is starting a news channel called India 24/7 and the preparations for starting it, is on in full swing. It is being planned in collaboration with a big corporate house. Of course, right now nobody wants to confirm anything and everything is hush-hush."
The source continues, "The idea for Amitabh Bachchan launching a new channel came while he was shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's Rann. Bachchan plays Harshvardhan Malik, the owner of a TV channel in the film. When Ramu and Bachchan were discussing the script in the initial stages, it was Bachchan's idea that Ramu name his channel, India 24/7. Now the channel which Bachchan is apparently planning to launch is also called India 24/7. That can hardly be a co-incidence."

Anyway trivia is Big-B was rejected by AIR in his early days..

Now the official version by Man himself on his blog

Except for the odd pestering sms from media. ‘ Sir I believe you are starting a news channel called INDIA 24/7.’
Ha .. ha ..
How does one respond to such stupidity. The editor of a large film magazine calls, all from my fraternity, as being schmucks !! But most of her editorial smirks of nothing else but the unethical culture of stars, their attitudes, language and behavior. Why do so when you consider them to be all in the horrid word you wrote to describe situation earlier on !!

TATA's creativeness - nano Advertising

TATA is looking at unconventional mediums like web search, viral marketing and innovative public relations-driven campaigns, where the news in brief is called ‘Nano news’ in TOI, Navbharat times etc and television advertisement breaks are called "Nano breaks" (I hav seen it during TC 2009 Campus telecast).

Tata Nano’s print campaign was unveiled. Unlike most car launches, this one will not be supported by a TV campaign.

Other initiatives include online games, merchandise and accessories like Nano branded T-shirts, key chains, teddy bears and watches.
On the day of the launch, the famous RK Laxman's common man was seen rushing towards a Nano. TATA is also encashing its other business through nano like bookings n displays of nano are at Croma, Westside etc.

Because India Deserves a Better Parliament: The Indian nation is at a cusp. On the one hand, a palpable energy has been unleashed in the country, determined to take India to the forefront of the world order in the years ahead. On the other - with the economic slowdown and the recent spate of terrorist attacks - we are suddenly reminded of our enormous shortcomings and vulnerabilities as a nation.

After AIG, its time for ING to cut their expenditure

All the global banking and insurance companies are in the mood of cut-costing. After AIG has got himself out from Manchester United, its now ING's turn, as they are looking for an orderly exit from its contract with Renault team.

ING is one of the top sponsors in Formula One, with a title sponsorship of the Renault team, and title sponsorship of two races and with track advertising at 14 of the 18 races last year. The company has also had a large marketing campaign connected to its Formula One program over the last couple of years. As part of the cost cuts the company is cutting its Formula One sponsorship by 40 percent in 2009.

The 2009 Index of Economic Freedom

Hong Kong returned to occupy its top-spot for the 15th consecutive time, in the ‘Index of Economic Freedom’.

WTF this ranking is all about?
This ranking/study is done by the Heritage Foundation and the "Wall Street Journal.", to quote them

We measure ten components of economic freedom, assigning a grade in each using a scale from 0 to 100, where 100 represents the maximum freedom. The ten component scores are then averaged to give an overall economic freedom score for each country. The ten components of economic freedom are:
Business Freedom | Trade Freedom | Fiscal Freedom | Government Size | Monetary Freedom | Investment Freedom | Financial Freedom | Property rights | Freedom from Corruption | Labor Freedom

Where are we (Indian?)
Very well placed at 123th spot out of 183 nations, doing well against China, Nepal, Niger etc etc . Anyway we can say that like any other ranking , this is also of dubious nature, reason is simple: Pakistan is placed at 102.

Downturn hits porn industry

Recently found a very interesting link, see what could happened during recession time.

At the Adult Entertainment Expo, the annual confab that runs concurrently with the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, there were fewer exhibitors, fewer fans and a lot less glitz.

According to a rep for Adult Video News, which runs the show, the exhibitor count was down about 18% from last year. Attendance by fans -- who are admitted on some days of the show, with the rest open to industry pros only -- wasn’t set to be tallied until after the event was finished, but is likely down as well.

Coke Sued Over VitaminWater Claims

The Washington-based Center for Science in the Public Interest accuses Coke of selling what it says is basically sugar water by claiming it has vitamins that boost immunity and reduce the risk of disease.
The group said the health benefit claims that Coca-Cola makes about its VitaminWater are "nonsense." It filed a class-action lawsuit in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California.

Who own VitaminWater in the past?
The world's leading beverages company Coca-Cola had acquired it from Glaceau also known as Energy Brands Inc for $4.1 billion in year 2007. Our very own Tata Tea used to own 30-per cent stake in Glaceau.
